Get funded! English for Grant Writing

Winning research funding is a competitive business. With much funding now targeted at international cooperation, the ability to write effectively and convincingly in English is a requirement of any researcher. This workshop is designed to help those who do not have English as their native language improve their ability to write research proposals especially for European funding programmes.

Content and Aim of the Workshop
Participants will learn how to identify good models and develop effective writing strategies to target an interdisciplinary readership and put their message across in English. Participants will be introduced to the 'grammar-free' portfolio approach to developing their writing skills, followed by a 'hands-on' practice session.

ReMaT Workshop for Early-Stage-Researchers

Research Management Training in Brussels, Belgium

The ReMaT Workshop Research management training for early-stage researchers - will take place in Brussels on 16th and 17th April 2012. The workshop is designed for early-stage researchers in engineering and natural sciences, particularly PhD candidates from the 2nd year onwards. The idea of European networking is very much embedded in the concept, and we encourage participation from many different countries at the workshop.

ReMaT is an interactive, intensive workshop providing an introduction to research management. It involves three international trainers and is held in English. The modules of the workshop cover exploitation of knowledge and entrepreneurship, acquisition of grants, intellectual property rights and the management of interdisciplinary projects. They are delivered in such a way that it challenges participants to consider different perspectives on how they might use their PhD education in a variety of career paths, and convince others to hire them.
